What is a META WALK? 

This unique journey invites participants to explore urban biodiversity through a guided walk, where the sounds of the city’s hidden natural world come to life. Blending traditional listening techniques with the cutting-edge advancements of artificial intelligence, this collective walk will seek to reveal the intricate symphony of urban wildlife often overlooked in the hustle and bustle of daily life. Join us as we reconnect with urban wildlife, tune into the rich tapestry of sounds, and discover a new perspective on biodiversity in the heart of the city.

This event is open to 30 participants who are eager to explore the intersection of listening, artificial intelligence and ecology.

Event Details:

  • Date and Time: 1st of August, 7 P.M.
  • Location: HEKA, Cesta Zore Perello – Godina 3, 6000 Koper

Event Schedule:

  • Walk and listen (45 minutes): Participants will embark on a nature walk, focusing on listening to and recording the diverse sounds of the environment such as birds and bats. This immersive experience will allow you to connect with nature in a unique way, capturing the voices of biodiversity.
  • Analysis and discussion (45 minutes): After the walk, we will gather to analyze the recorded sounds using machine learning techniques. Our AI tools will help identify and differentiate the species based on their sounds, offering new perspectives on the ecosystems around us. We will discuss the findings and explore how these technologies can enhance our understanding of the natural world.
